Everyone is buying everyone else's brewery so who makes what? Here in Canada there is a trend to micro-breweries (small breweries with more central control) rather than the usual soap suds we get from the 'big' 3. We tend to gravitate to English style ales or continental style lagers, but much of our stuff is dodgy at best. The most popular beer consumed lately is European, centering around Belgian, German, English and Czech types.

As I've already commented in my blog, Holba qualifies for the České Pivo label, even though is brewed with corn syrup. Now, I am far from being and advocate of the Bavarian Purity Law, but at least that one makes some sense.
This PGD is so half assed that I wonder what were they thinking when they put the application together.

Makes an absolute nonsense of the appellation. But then, the appellation itself is a complete crock. Mind you, discovering that Brno brewed Heineken qualifies just made me laugh and brightened the day!
